For centuries, people all over the world have wondered what the meaning of life is, and although many have their opinions and beliefs, its hard to say what the actual correct answer is. Now, I may not be able to tell you exactly what the meaning of life is, but I can tell you the meaning of L.I.F.E Creations LTD!
See, L.I.F.E is all about being creative, hence the creative workshops on offer. The team target those between the ages of 12 and 18 who wish to put their brains on show through various methods, whether it be through storytelling, poetry, music, acting, creative writing or anything simply put... creative!
Let me quickly break it down for you. L.I.F.E stands for living and learning, inspiring insight, fact vs fiction and evaluating everything. That alone already sparks interest but when you take a deeper look into the organisation and its aims you really learn the true elements of not only what makes a successful company and movement but the positiveness of it. People love to say "the children are our future", well if they are then the future is looking pretty cool for those children who take part in the L.I.F.E workshops and get a head start in the wonderful world of creativity.
It all began back in 2010 up in West Midlands, and now after a couple years of growth and success, Yvonne Eba has brought L.I.F.E to London. Creativity is far from an unusual field for the young woman as she has a university degree in creative writing and journalism under her belt. In addition to this she's also a poet/lyricist and a personal tutor in English Language and English Literature, so there's no doubt that she's a great asset to a great team, and now that L.I.F.E has reached London city even more doors to success will soon be open!
The first official L.I.F.E launch took place at the Barking Library on September 19th 2012. Your's truly was in attendance and I really did get a good feel of what the movement was all about. Yvonne kicked things off with a brief history lesson on the company and then talked about the exciting workshops. In between all of this she broke the ice with some awesome performances in both rap and poetry. Soon, what initially seemed to be a bunch of shy young people sitting in silence turned into ambitious excited young people wanting to get involved. I really did see that these young people were made to feel comfortable and inspired by Yvonne and the idea of being together to show their talents. There was a connection and this resulted in some poetry performances and rap performances from a few of those in attendance. I even got involved. Some even shared the darkest days in their life, asked by Yvonne, and even though at first that kinda sounds like "whoa, that's upsetting", it was actually really good because it got people to open up, be honest and comfortable and be optimistic through these dark days that once occurred. Not only that but it was all done through poetry! A nice little twist there.
...And to me, that's what its all about. Getting these young people to get involved, not be afraid to open their mouths, not be afraid to share their ideas, and not be afraid to believe in themselves. Getting them to truly appreciate their talents and their minds and comfortably share them with others, and get a whole lotta learning done in the process. I guess that's where the "Living and Learning" part of L.I.F.E comes in. In fact that's where it all comes in. Living and learning, inspiring insight, fact vs fiction and evaluating everything. Don't get no truer than that.
I could go on and on and on and on about L.I.F.E and what they have on offer and how one can benefit from it and how all that glitters is gold when you enter the room, but there's only so much you can get from reading a blog. For you to truly get the feel and the vibe and the experience, you need to be there. You need to get involved. You need to be creative. So come along, join the party. The aim is to have workshops and launches going on at least once a month so there's always an opportunity for you or anyone you think that fits the bill to get involved!
